How do I enable or disable the pressure sensor on my Sonicare?

Your Sonicare toothbrush measures the pressure you apply while brushing to protect your gums and teeth. If you apply too much pressure, the handle will change its vibration. You can enable or disable this feature by following the instructions below.

3000 Series

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Press the power button while the handle remains on the charger.
3. Keep the power button pressed until you hear three short beeps (after 7 seconds).
4. Release the power button.

If you continue holding the power button after the three short beeps, the activate/deactivate sequence repeats.

DiamondClean 9000

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Press and hold the power button for up to 7 seconds.
3. Let go of the power button when you hear 3 consecutive beeps.

The feature is activated when you see the battery indication light blink white 2 times and hear 3 tones from low to high. 

The feature is deactivated when you see the battery indication blink white once and hear 3 tones from high to low.

DiamondClean Smart

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Enable the pressure sensor by holding the mode/intensity button and pressing the power button twice while on a charger. The handle will beep twice to confirm it is enabled.
3. Disable the pressure sensor by holding the mode/intensity button and pressing the power button twice while on a charger. The handle will beep once to confirm it is disabled.

ExpertClean

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Press and hold the power button for up to 5 seconds.
3. Let go of the power button when you hear 1 beep and 2 beeps.

The feature is activated when you see the battery indicator light flashing green 2 times and hear 3 tones from low to high.

The feature is deactivated when you see the battery indicator light flashing amber once and hear 3 tones from high to low.

ExpertResults

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Press and hold the power button for up to 7 seconds.
3. Let go of the power button when you hear 3 consecutive beeps.

The handle comes with the features already activated. To deactivate, repeat the sequence above. 

FlexCare Platinum

1. Attach the brush head to the handle.
2. Place the handle in the plugged-in charger or sanitizer.
3. Press and hold the power and mode button for 2 seconds.

The feature is activated when you hear 2 beeps.
The feature is deactivated when you hear 1 beep.

Prestige 9900

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Press and hold the power button for up to 7 seconds.
3. Let go of the power button when you hear 3 consecutive beeps. The SenseIQ indicator and light ring lights up purple for 3 seconds.

If you see the batter indication blink white 3 times and hear 3 tones from low to high, then the feature has been activated.

If you see the battery indicator blink amber 3 times and hear 3 tones from high to low, the feature has been deactivated.

Protective Clean

1. Place the handle on the charger.
2. Press and hold the power button while the handle remains on the charger.
3. Keep the power button pressed until you hear 3 consecutive short beeps (after 6-7 seconds).
4. Release the power button.

If you hear 3 tones from low to high, the pressure sensor feature has been activated. The brush head replacement light and the battery light will also blink green 3 times at the same time to confirm activation.

If you hear 3 tones from high to low, the pressure sensor feature has been deactivated. The brush head replacement light and the battery light will also blink amber 3 times at the same time to confirm deactivation.

If you continue holding the power on/off button after the 3 consecutive short beeps, the activate/deactivate sequence repeats.
