Zenition DoseWise: Ensures low X-ray dose for patients and staff

    Zenition DoseWise
Strategies to reduce radiation exposure to patients and medical staff during interventional procedures are currently receiving close scrutiny in the healthcare community. Philips DoseWise Zenition is a unique combination of techniques, programs and practices, built into our Zenition mobile C-arm solutions. Combined, they provide clinically relevant image quality during orthopedic, trauma and other interventional applications, while efficiently managing radiation exposure to patients and medical staff.

    Zenition’s unique dose control features3

    Up to 90%
reduction in X-ray dose by selecting clinically optimized acquisition protocols from the wide range of dose-frame rate combinations.4

    Up to 49%
reduction in Dose Area Product (DAP) with Automatic Shutter Positioning protects patient anatomy and in-room personnel from unnecessary exposure.4

    Philips technologies for Orthopedics

    MetalSmart excludes metal artifacts

    Automatic image enhancement

MetalSmart automatically excludes metal artifacts caused by metal implants to provide higher image quality and efficient dose control during orthopedic procedures and patients with metal implants, compared to systems without metal exclusion. BodySmart promotes first-time-right imaging and dose efficiency by automatically adapting the measuring field to the area of interest.

    Unify workflow

    Unify workflow

When setting pedicle screws for a spinal fusion or fracture repair, reducing

technical distractions and discussions can help surgical teams remain focused on the patient. With Unify workflow’s navigation aids, surgical teams experienced smoother interactions and less miscommunication in a usability study.1

    Optimal C-arc depth

    Enhanced C-arc depth
The optimal depth of the fully counterbalanced C-arm provides ample room to position around obese patients and image the lumbar spine and hip. It supports over the table positioning, even with tables that have a large base.

    Position Memory

    Position Memory
Simplify workflow for challenging orthopedic cases requiring frequent re-positioning of the mobile C-arm. With Position Memory,2 participants in a usability study1 achieved 94% first-time-right repositioning and experienced less frustration during (re)positioning tasks.

    Asymmetric Collimation

    Asymmetric Collimation
Unique asymmetric shutters increase collimation flexibility and help you collimate the anatomy using independent shutter placement with a fingertip. You can adjust shutters and image orientation while on last image hold without using radiation.

1 Results obtained during user tests performed in November 2013 by Use-Lab GmbH, an independent company. The tests involved 30 USA based clinicians (15 physicians teamed up with 15 nurses or X-ray technicians), who performed simulated procedures in a simulated OR environment. None of them had worked with a Philips C-arm or with each other before.

2 Position Memory is only available on Zenition Flat Detector systems.

3 The X-ray dose reductions refer to specific features, and will vary depending on the dose parameters selected.
